There are certain things the FDA does not approve - items such as compounded drugs, tobacco products, your baby's formula, cosmetics... and supplements, such as the Plexus products.
However, the FDA most definitely regulates many of these items! And it's for our safety, of course. If you knew the regulation that Plexus has to keep up with, you might be surprised!
You might even be on this page because you heard something about a 2014 letter from the FDA to Plexus. Plexus quickly responded to the letter from FDA and made the necessary changes.
We have found it fascinating that even if a good supplement or a health food is able to help folks with the symptoms of a certain illness, the supplement or food creator can't make any claims about that product helping because then it becomes a "new drug." And then it has to be approved by the FDA "on the basis of scientific data submitted by a drug sponsor to demonstrate that the drug is safe and effective."
Again, this is for our safety. None of us wants to waste time and money taking something that might not help us - or might even harm us!
So do your homework! Learn about ANY drug or supplement you think might help you. Make sure you understand the benefits AND the side effects. There are many research articles out there discussing ingredients in different supplements. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions!
